During the dates of the festival, please do not send correspondence for delegates to the Banff World Television Festival offices, Achilles Media or to the on site registration desk (it may not reach the addressee), instead: If you are staying at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, please ensure that all mail & courier packages are sent to your attention to the address below. The Fairmont Banff Springs Telephone: (403)762-2211 If you are staying at an alternate hotel, have all mail & courier packages sent to your attention there. Faxes should be sent to one of the two numbers listed below, depending where you would like the fax delivered. Hotel Fax: (403) 762-5755 - for Fairmont Banff Springs hotel guests only and fax delivery to your hotel room. Conference Centre Fax: (403) 760-6050 - for delivery to the Conference Centre. The cover page should state: "Deliver to Information Desk (Ground Floor, Conference Centre) at the Banff World Television Festival". It will be placed in your mailbox. 9. I need to change my hotel dates. How do I do this? Please contact your hotel directly. 10. Will there be business services available? Full business services, including faxing and photocopying, are available at the Relizon Canada Business Centre, conveniently located at the Fairmont Banff Springs Conference Centre. You can contact them at (403)-762-1757. 11. How will delegates find me at the festival? All delegates will be listed on the festival website. This list is updated continuously. This year BANFF is committed to "greening" the Festival. One of the many improvements in working towards this was getting rid of the old mailboxes in order to reduce the tremendous paper waste they generated. By removing the mailboxes from the Canwest Delegate Lounge, we're addressing the request by so many of our delegates to increase the space available for meetings; there will be more room for additional tables and chairs in the Canwest Delegate Lounge this year. However, if anyone wants to drop something off for someone specifically, there will be the STARZ Information and Messaging Centre prominently located in the middle of the Canwest Delegate Lounge, where delegates will be able to check for messages and meet up with other delegates. When you leave a message for a delegate our conference staff will email the person that they have a message at the STARZ Information and Message Centre. 12. I'd like to bring my family. What activities are there to do in Banff? Banff is a unique destination with great activities for families: hiking, cycling, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing, golfing, rafting and more. Visit www.banfflakelouise.com for information on available activities and tour operators in the area. We recommend booking in advance of arrival; Banff can be a busy place in June. Also check out our "About Banff" page (http://www.banff2008.com/2008.about.banff.php) that contains a list of things to do around Banff. Child care services can be arranged through the concierge desk at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (call 403-762-2211). If you are staying at another hotel, child care can be arranged by contacting the YWCA Banff Resource Centre at 403-760-3200 or emailing crc@ywcabanff.ab.ca (during business hours). 13. What clothes should I pack? Banff has a cool, dry climate. The area, which is at an altitude of 1,476 m (4,500 ft), has "mountain weather," meaning it is subject to daily changes in temperatures and conditions. You might need a t-shirt one day, a long-sleeved shirt the next day and a sweater or jacket at night. Daytime temperatures can (and sometimes do!) range between 5° C and 30° C (45° F and 86° F). The days are long: over 16½ hours of daylight by the summer solstice, June 21. Nights are short and significantly cooler. Click here for up to date weather information in Banff. 14. What is the 2% Tourism Improvement Fee (T.I.F.)? Effective November 1, 2006, the Tourism Improvement Fee (T.I.F.) is a 2% accommodation charge which will be used to enhance the experience of visitors by funding destination initiatives such as more and enhanced special event and heritage tourism programs, improvements and maintenance of information centres and services, and quality and ease of access to online information at www.banfflakelouise.com. 15. What is the 4% Alberta Tourism Levy? Alberta imposes a 4% Alberta Tourism Levy on all lodgings. This is non-refundable. The tax will not apply to no-show charges or cancellations. 16. What is the 5% GST (Goods and Services Tax)? Canada imposes a 5% tax on all goods and services purchased in Canada. 17. How do I get Around Banff?
